Latin America News

I first remember being fascinated with Latin America when I heard a radio broadcast on short-wave radio back in the late 1960's, from Ecuador. Fate led me to working in Latin America in the 1980's, and having the fortune to marry a beautiful woman from Ecuador. I continued to work in Latin America for some time and have continued my interest in the region via the internet and regular travel to the region. I also am the author of Culture Shock! Ecuador 2002. 2007. 

Being a news nut I have been a great fan of such sites as the Drudge Report and others. However, being interested primarily in Latin America, I found very few sources that put the news in a capsule form for me. And I especially was interested in stories that covered not only news of politics and business, but cultural insight into the region.

This desire to know more and search under the main stories about Latin America was the genesis for this project which began January 1, 2007.  Each story is viewed and studied  before inclusion and there is no computer program generating stories. I plan on adding more types stories daily and also providing news in both Spanish and Portuguese. I hope this new page enhances your knowledge of Latin America.
